Sir Andrew Cahn has been a diplomat, a European Commission senior official and a businessman. He was CEO of UK Trade and Investment. In that office he was responsible for UK participation in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

He was a non-executive Director of companies such as Huawei Technologies (UK), Lloyds of London and Nomura International and has been Chair of WWF(UK).  He is now an Advisory Board member of the UK National Committee on China, a Governor of the Institute for Government and Chair of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
